Niagara-on-the-Lake to Receive Information about Optional Service Plans

Mailing is part of partnership between the Town and SLWC originally launched in 2015

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – July 26, 2021 – In 2015, the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and Service Line Warranties of Canada (SLWC) launched a program that gives resident homeowners access to affordable service repair plans that cover needed repairs to the exterior water and sewer service lines connecting their homes to the Town’s systems.

Since launch, 315 Niagara-on-the-Lake homeowners have signed up for one or more of the service plans and 42 jobs have been completed for a total value of $65,200. These are repairs local homeowners otherwise would have had to pay for out-of-pocket without a coverage plan.

Many homeowners are unaware that they are responsible for repairs to the water and sewer lines that fall on their property. When a water or sewer line breaks, they are frustrated to find out that the repair is not covered under typical homeowner’s insurance or by the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The no-deductible, low-cost plans gives homeowners reliable access to local, certified repair contractors who can quickly and professionally complete repairs, freeing them from the financial burden and inconvenience that comes with home emergencies. Repair plans start at just $6 a month.

While it has been some time since Niagara-on-the-Lake homeowners have received information about the program, homeowners will soon receive updated information in the mail about the available plans; there is no obligation to sign up for a plan. The mailings will include the Niagara-on-the-Lake logo to indicate that the mailing is legitimate and that there is a partnership in place between Town and SLWC.

“A SLWC service plan is a smart way for homeowners to prepare for a home emergency. These plans take the worry, inconvenience and financial burden out of the repair,” said Mike Van Horne, General Manager, Service Line Warranties of Canada, a HomeServe Company. “Niagara-on-the-Lake homeowners with a plan have easy access to a network of excellent, local contractors, and they get peace of mind that they won’t be financially responsible for a covered home repair emergency.”

Homeowners in 65 Ontario municipalities now have access to SLWC service repair plans. Since the SLWC program began in 2014, homeowners have saved more than $6 million in repair expenses.
